What is Teeth Grinding?
Teeth grinding (bruxism), a condition common in children is the severe grinding of the teeth or clenching of the jaw. You may observe shorter looking teeth or noise created when the child grinds the teeth at night. Teeth grinding is usually not a serious problem in children because most outgrow it early with no treatment. Night-guard may recommended if the wear on the teeth is excessive.
Stress in adults can cause grinding of the teeth, but in children it could be as a result of maligned teeth, irritation in the mouth and pressure in the ear.
