• Cavity Fillings

One of the major causes of tooth cavities is tooth decay and dental fillings are employed as a response to this dental condition, but what causes tooth decay? The mouth is full of different bacteria, and our teeth, gums and tongues are where the bacteria live. There are good types of bacteria and bad types of bacteria. The bad bacteria are what causes tooth decay in Nigeria and are what eats away at your teeth. When bad bacteria are left in the mouth too long it combines with the sugars that finds their way into your mouth, and creates an acid. Over time the acid eats away at your teeth causing a hole, or dental cavity. If you or a family member is experiencing pain because of tooth decay, please give us a call at 0700-DENTIST so we can help! Appointment scheduling is available 24/7 by phone, or by filling our appointments form here.

  • Cleaning & Exam

Regular dental checkup (examination) is very important and should be done every six months at least. Professional dental cleaning ensures that the build up of  tartar (calculus), which you cannot remove with brushing and flossing, is taken care of. If the plaque and tartar build up isn’t removed, it will continue to develop and cause tooth decay. It can also result to unhealthy gums, leading to gingivitis. When you receive regular cleanings, each time your teeth will be x-rayed and examined for any problems that need to be addressed. Some things to look out for include decay, misalignment, chipped teeth, gum disease, cracked teeth, signs of grinding and others. All of these things make a dental cleaning in Choice Dental very important. If you would like to schedule a cleaning with our hygienist, give us a call today at 0700-DENTIST or book an appointment here.

  • Kids Dentistry

From experience with our clients, most parents believe its time for their kids’ first dental visit around age 3-4, however, earlier has proven to be better. At Choice Dental we recommend bringing your child to the office around the age of 1, or around 6 months after the first tooth is visible. A child’s primary teeth begin to grow at 6 months of age, and it is important to begin healthy dental habits early. If you are able to establish visits to the dentist regularly and teach proper dental habits, your child is less likely to have dental problems like tooth decay as they get older. This will also help your child develop comfort in going to the dentist, so that they do not develop dental fears or anxiety if faced with their first experience at the dentist later on. Schedule an appointment with our kid friendly dentists in Choice Dental and let us help give them the dental care they need.

  • Braces (Orthodontics)

If you have crooked teeth and/or a misaligned bite (an underbite or overbite), there are a variety of treatments that can help straighten teeth, including braces and retainers.

At Choice Dental Our doctors will work with you to pick the best fit for you, they will ask questions about your health, conduct a clinical exam, take impressions of your teeth, take photos of your face and teeth, and order X-rays of the mouth and head. An appropriate treatment plan is made based on analysis of the gathered information.

Today’s orthodontics offer more kinds of braces than ever before.

If braces are indeed the solution for you, our doctors at Choice Dental will prescribe an appliance specific for your needs. Braces are of different types. No one method works for everyone.

    • Traditional metal braces are made of the stainless steel brackets and wires that inspired the term “metal mouth” years ago. Fortunately today’s metal braces are noticeably smaller. And new heat-activated arch wires move your teeth more quickly and less painfully as they respond to your body’s heat.
    • Ceramic braces mock metal braces in shape and size but they use tooth-colored or clear ceramic brackets that blend more naturally into your teeth. Some even use tooth-colored wires to keep your treatment even lower profile.
    • Lingual braces use the same metal brackets and wires used in traditional braces, but the brackets and wires are installed on the inside of your teeth to keep them hidden.
    • Invisalign consists of a series of customized, clear BPA-free plastic tray aligners that are removable and typically replaced in intervals to keep your teeth moving in the desired direction.
  • Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are used to protect weakened teeth from tooth decay or breaking. A crown holds a tooth that has been previously broken or damaged, together. A crown can also be used to cover a tooth that has an unusual shape or colour. Quite frequently, dental crowns are used to complement other dental procedures, such as bridges or implants. However, one of the most common uses for a crown in Choice Dental is to help cover a tooth when the filled tooth or root canal treated tooth doesn’t have much support or tooth material left. Thinking about having a dental crown or need advice on what to do with a weak tooth, give us a call at 0700-DENTIST or book an appointment today.

  • Invisalign

There are other options out there for straightening your teeth, but none offers the level of comfort, convenience and confidence that you’ll find with Invisalign. Invisalign is the latest cosmetic dental technology in aligning your teeth. Unlike traditional braces,  Invisalign in Choice Dental has no metal, no wires and are 100% removable. This option for aligning your teeth is made up of durable resin materials that are custom molded into a set of almost completely invisible aligners. In order to use Invisalign properly you must snap them onto your teeth and wear them about 22 hours a day. Because Invisalign, or clear alternative to braces are removable, you take them out to eat and brush, which helps reduce the oral hygiene problems that could occur with traditional braces. This clear alternative to braces are swapped twice a month for a new molded set to slowly straighten teeth. Call Choice Dental today on 0700-DENTIST (0700 336 8478) to discuss how Invisalign can help you straighten your teeth.

Invisalign may be as low as $3000 for Upper and Lower arches.

  • Dental Implant

Dental implant (also known as an endosseous implant or fixture) is a surgical component that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor. If you have a knocked out, broken or missing tooth that you would like replaced, dental implants in Choice Dental may be the best option for you. They restore your teeth to a fully working bite, which allows you to eat, drink and chew like you normally would. • Teeth Whitening

Considering teeth whitening? This can be done anytime at Choice Dental. However, if you plan on getting teeth whitening treatments done periodically there is a time frame you should stick to in order to keep your teeth and their enamel strong and healthy. At Choice Dental we recommend waiting six months after a proper whitening treatment is completed before getting another. Whitening your teeth may result in undesirable sensitivity if done too often. If you are concerned about yellowing teeth, once they are whitened, stay away from foods, beverages and other items such as tobacco coffee, tea, that tend to discolour your teeth. Brushing and flossing every night before going to bed is also a great idea.

Schedule an appointment for your teeth whitening in Choice Dental today, and let the confident smile continue.

  • Dentures

Dentures are custom-made replacements for missing teeth and can be taken out and put back into your mouth. There are two types of dentures available. Remember, your only option is not a full set of complete dentures in Choice Dental. If you still have some of your natural teeth left, partial denture may be indicated. Dentures restore your smile so that you are able to bite and chew almost like you would with your natural teeth. The dentures we provide at Choice Dental are custom made to fit you. They look amazing, and will fit you properly. Call us today at 0700-DENTIST.

  • Root Canal Therapy (RCT)

If you’re about to have your first root canal treatment, you might be feeling very apprehensive about the whole thing, especially with all the stories floating around about root canal treatment. Well don’t worry, at Choice Dental our gentle doctors will treat you with utmost care and detail.

Endodontic treatment (“endo”–inside; “dontia”– tooth), commonly known as root canal treatment, is needed when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected. The causes could be deep tooth decay, repeated dental procedures on one tooth (replacing a large filling with recurrent decay, for example), or traumatic damage such as a crack, chip or even a root fracture. Gum disease can also give rise to root canal problems necessitating root canal treatment.

Any of these problems can result in acute inflammation of the pulp, which causes swelling and pressure inside the tooth, leading to tooth pain and, eventually, irreversible damage to the pulp. Once the pulp dies, the pain may subside initially, only to return as an acute (painful) infection spreading into the periapical tissues (“peri” – around; “apex” – end), particularly the bone. It could also become a chronic (long-standing) infection with symptoms ranging from mild to severe.

Whatever the cause of your tooth ache or pulpal disease, root canal treatment may be recommended to save the tooth and save you money!

If you think you have a pulpal disease, visit us today for your endodontic treatment. Better still, come in for a comprehensive dental examination to avoid extensive dental work in the future.

  • Tooth Extraction

Tooth extraction is usually the last resort with us at Choice Dental. When contemplating getting a tooth pulled, it is important to know our dental professionals will not remove a tooth unless it is necessary. We will try to save your tooth before recommending a tooth extraction in Choice Dental. However, with certain patients, an extraction may be the best option available. Many patients have progressive extensive tooth decay or a significant injury to the tooth, which may make it difficult to save. In such a case, we will discuss your options for tooth replacement. Implant is then the next best thing to your natural tooth.
